Catching up

Good Morning everyone.  It has been a hectic couple of weeks.  Trying to finish up projects from the winter and be creative for the Spring and Summer months.  This time of year I spend much of my time working in a garden center.  This gets me outside and in the fresh air.  Plants are arriving daily for us to put into containers and add color to our customers life's.  This activity can take me far away from my fabric stash, but never fear I am getting back to that stash and will be posting projects soon.  Happy Spring everyone!

Spa-Da Spinning

Getting away from my business of quilting and fabric I present you with a picture of my newest hobby.  SPINNING!
Yup with the help of Renee at Spun Right Round yarn shop and her good buddy Steph they have gotten me to come to the "dark side" (I mean bright side) of spinning.
Of course I am still intimidated by sitting at a wheel so my dear husband made me my own drop spindle.
ISN'T HE WONDERFUL!!
So now it is all twisted and secured to later wind into a ball (a very small one) that equals 2oz. and then onto the making of "something", maybe a headband.  I will post the finished goodie when I have decided what to turn this lovely hand spun yarn into!

It's all about the baby

When my local yarn shop Spun Right Round started carrying fabric I just couldn't resist the temptation of adding to my fabric stash.  The fabric she carries is all fun and different from the usual quilt shops I visit.  This owl fabric by Michael Miller really caught my eye and I knew I just had to find something to do with it.  Knowing that I soon will be a 1st time grandmother I decided to go "baby" with it.  Although the bib is functional for a bib for catching food it also can be used for a cute fashion addition to any little outfit.  I can't wait to see what other trouble I get into with this new fabric option.......I may have to find a new hiding place for yet another ton of fabric coming in the house.   For now I will make bibs and list in my Etsy shop until my newest family addition arrives and then all bets are off as to what I keep and what I put up for sale.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and stay warm in this frigid weather we are getting in the east.

It's all about the Shamrock

It's almost that day when we are all suppose to feel the luck of the Irish.   I decided throwing in some candle light couldn't hurt either.  All of these items can be found on my Etsy Shop, just click on the tab above to go directly to the shop.  What are you doing for the Wearing of the Green Holiday?

A day with Quilters

Yesterday was so much fun.  I met with a group of quilters from Syracuse NY.  These ladies get together each week to share in the creation of making quilts.  Each person had a unique project going on and it was great to see so many different ideas.  They are lucky enough to meet in a City park recreation room that had plenty of space and tables.  I love to have the chance to go to a group of quilters and talk about the long arm business.  It allows the ladies to understand what the expectations are of a long arm quilter so they are better prepared when they hand over all that hard work they have done.  Yes it was a wonderful time spent with these ladies and I brought back to my studio 2 quilts to do and the promise of more to come.  Ladies your work is amazing - keep on quilt'in.

What a week..........

If anything could have been done wrong this week it seemed like everything I touched needed a re-do.  I started with having to sew "backwards" more then once and then my knitting totally was done incorrectly.  Ugh!  The most enjoyable days were just yesterday and today as my husband and I were lucky enough to have our little sweetie 3 year old grand-daughter visit us.  We don't see her much but we just love it when we do.  Of course weather here in central New York has been bitter cold but we still took her out to lunch today and she was so good.  The house seems quiet tonight so it appears as though it is time to get back to working on my sewing or my hobby of knitting.  Everyone have a great weekend and watch for my posts this week.

Monday, Monday feels that way.............

Sewing backwards.  I guess I can tell it is Monday.  After being so relieved that I finished another Etsy project I discovered it was sewn incorrectly - UGH what was I thinking - I guess it wasn't about the item I was sewing.  So the afternoon was spent backward sewing......anyone know the feeling??????
